Het Perfecte Plaatje 2025
Last spring, Rutger got a call from ITV Studios asking if I wanted to be a guest photographer for the RTL 4 show Het Perfecte Plaatje (“The Perfect Picture”). They wanted to know if I could teach the contestants a thing or two about street photography.
Since I’m not exactly someone who enjoys being in the spotlight (I’d much rather take the photo than be the photo, so to speak), I hesitated for a moment—but then decided to say yes.
Almost 20 years ago, Floris and Rutger actually started out in television together. You could often spot their names in the end credits on RTL 4, where we began as junior directors and first got into content creation. To this day, they’re still a tight team, but their main focus now is photography. So in a way, it felt like things had come full circle.
He already knew a big part of Het Perfecte Plaatje’s crew from those early TV years, so it almost felt like a little reunion.
“Stepping out of my comfort zone (and in front of the camera for once) turned out to be a great experience. Sometimes it’s good to seek out a bit of discomfort, and it’s been really fun to receive so many reactions from all over the place.”
Somewhere later in the season, Rutger will pop up again for another assignment.
